So you're heading to Chatham for a weekend away Well, we don't expect you to have our wedding on your minds at all hours of the day (although it will be our primary focus!), so we thought we'd give you some ideas of how to fill your “free” time. There are so many things to do around here that we never have time to be bored. Whether its outdoors and fitness related, or shopping and culinary, Chatham (and neighboring towns) has something for everyone beaches, bird watching, seal watching, fishing, whale watching, biking, golf, hiking, museums, theatre, shopping and more…

For a comprehensive list of local activities, check the Chatham Chamber of Commerce.

Here are few of our favorites:

Our Favorites...

Friday Night Band Concert at 8pm
Gould Park on Main Street, Chatham

Join the fun at the band concerts in Kate Gould Park on Main Street. This is a not-to-be missed Chatham experience.  Of course, it may conflict with those of you attending the Rehearsal Dinner; however, hopefully some of you can still make this event.  Features folk dances for the children, dance numbers for grown ups and community sing-alongs for everyone!
Chatham A’s Baseball Game
Veterans Field in Chatham

If you're staying in town for a few days before or after the weekend, you will get the chance to see this good ol' American pastime. The A's are playing on the home field on Wednesday July 27th and Monday August 1st. Click here for the official Chatham A's game schedule.
Lighthouse Beach
Main Street, across from the coast Guard Station, Chatham

Chatham Light is a must-see Chatham landmark.  The view of the open Atlantic from “The Light” is spectacular – and you can see the site of the famous 1986 'Breakthrough of North Beach'.  If a local “old salt” happens to be admiring the view… you may be lucky enough to get a brief explanation of history in the making.  Don't forget your cameras!
See below for other beaches.

Lighthouse beach is a great place to spend the day…but note that there is only 30 minute parking there during the summer (and the Chatham Police love to enforce this rule!)

If you're staying a little longer…

Provincetown

For a great day-trip, you should try Provincetown, or “P-Town” as its better known.  It's about a one-hour drive from Chatham, but is worth the trip.  The town is packed in the summer, so expect throngs of people and crowded parking lots.  However, it's a fun place to go for anything from funky artwork and unique jewelry, to ice cream and people watching.
